James Jarvis – business developer of BROKIS at EDC

With passion for creativity

Success is often the result of consistently questioning already existing answers. This was also the case for James Jarvis, partner of BROKIS at EDC.

In a supplier world that considers safe, consistent approaches to be necessary, he wondered in the early 2020s in his work as a sales consultant about creative approaches to market designer products to private and hospitality settings.

Today, James Jarvis belongs to the most successful lighting sales consultants in London. Having worked with some of the most influential designers on prestige projects around the world.

James Jarvis started his career in Shanghai, meeting architectural studios and government officals.

An outsider is created

Even in his early-career James Jarvis challenged normal convention. In the early 10s, he moved to China overcoming extreme challenges while developing the sales network of an Italian facade company.  He dropped out of his position, and for a number of years turned his artistic talents into a profession. Then returned to the UK to work with the owners of Minotti London.

"I believe every sell means you have entered by world. So its my responsibility to make sure you are looked after in that world."

Road to success

Together with Anke and Digby Summerhill, he brought an outsider approch to market in the luxury furniture market – while learning the meaning of quality and reputation. He left on good terms to help launch an American lighting brand, establishing them within the UK market. But remained friends with the Summerhills, as they shared a passion for delivering great customer service to discerning interior designers. Over lunch he and Digby discussed the challenges of mass produced lighting, and the possibilites of doing something sustainable in the lighting market.

After a career in the arts, James returned to London and was trained by the owners of EDC in the world of luxury interiors.

Sustainability as a driving force

In 2025, James Jarvis and Digby Summerhill visited the BROKIS factory to spend time with the owners and build foundations for strong partnership. With both parties sharing the same long term vision within the lighting industry. Beyond his ambitions, Jarvis declares it his mission to help preserve artisan glassmaking by getting BROKIS’s sustainable lights in every influential designer’s portfolio.
